WALLACE — Earl Thomas 82-year-old former resident of this community, died at 6:30 p. m. Sunday, Sept. 5, in Columbia Hospital, at Warsaw. He resided at Lake Chatman near Warsaw.
Mr. Thomas had been in failing health for approximately three years and seriously ill 10 days.
He was born June. 23, 1883, at Waynetown, the son of Joseph and Mida Myers Thomas. He was married to Mary Jane Rice of Terre Haute and she survives.
Mr. Thomas attended school at Wallace. He also attended Bloomingdale Academy and taught school in Parke and Fountain counties a number of years. In 1915, he became employed by the Internal Revenue Service. He retired from, this service in 1955. .
Surviving, in addition to the wife, are: one brother, Bon Thomas of Grange Corner; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Homer Cushman of Jasonville; two nieces and six nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a. m. Thursday at Bibler Funeral Home in Warsaw. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery there.
