Covington, Ind.—Mrs. Bette F. Thomas, 46, of Covington, died at 12:35 p.m. Wednesday (May 15, 1974) at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill. She had been a patient there four weeks and ill since October of 1968.
Born Nov. 16, 1927, in Bonham, Tex., she was the daughter of Homer R. and Frankie B. Garcia Shipman. She was married June 10, 1944 to Elmer Thomas, the Fountain County surveyor, who survives.
She was a member of the First Church of Christ of Covington. She had been a resident of Covington since 1944 and was employed at Indiana Bell. She had previously been employed at Fountain Trust Co. and had worked in the light and water office of Covington.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Sandra Gimble of Greenville, S. C.; a son, timothy D. of Covington; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Lou Westbrook of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Doris Reynolds of Arlington, Tex.; and four grandchildren.
Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home, with Rev. Harold Fogle and Rev. Jim Daniels officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery. - kbz
