THAYER, Nathan

The community was shocked today when it learned of the death of Nathan Thayer which occurred at the home of Dr. Mary Hudson on the Highlands at 10 o’clock this forenoon. Mr. Thayer had been under the care of Dr. Hudson for the past six weeks and though it was known that he was in a weakened condition from a complication of diseases, his illness had not been thought to be critical. Mr. Thayer was perhaps the largest individual property holder in the Kennewick Valley. He came here from Evansville, Ind in 1910 and his faith in the future of this district was such that he had invested a large share of his fortune here in the past 3 years. His holding included 75 acres of orchard land on the Highlands, a 40-acre alfalfa ranch on Finley Road, the Fruit & Produce building, the Valley Barn and several other business sites. He also had large property interests in KY. Not only was he a heavy investor himself but his influence had been the means of bringing other Evansville families to invest here. Mr. Thayer was born in Fountain County, Indiana 65 years ago. He was married at the age of 19, his wife passing away a few years later, leaving no children. He had no relatives living. The funeral will be held from the undertaking parlors and interment will be made at the local cemetery. The hour of the funeral has not been set at the time we go to press.
