Funeral services for Mrs. Charlotte Tate were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Baptist church in Muncie, Ill. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery at Oakwood, Ill. Mrs. Tate, 58, of Veedersburg, Ind., died last Saturday at her home. She was a former resident of the Dix community and St. Joseph, Ill. Survivors include her husband, Bryan Tate; two sisters, Mrs. Paul Rollinson and Mrs. Oran Pittman, both of Dix; and a brother.

Veedersburg – Mrs. Charlotte E. Tate, age 58 of Veedersburg Rt 4 died about noon Saturday Aug 19 (1967). She was found in a pond near her farm home. Fountain County Coroner Robert Shelby of Covington said she died from drowning and that there were no witnesses. Mrs. Tate was born May 9, 1909 in Champaign County, Ill, the daughter of Charles and Marietta Freeman Swaim. She was married in November 1931 to Bryan Tate who survives. She had lived in St. Joseph, Ill most of her life, moving to Veedersburg one and a half years ago. She was a member of the Church of Christ in St. Joseph. Surviving in addition to her husband are one brother, Howard Swaim of Danville, Ill; three sisters, Mrs. Celma Van Allen of Oakwood, Ill; Mrs. Ruth Liggett of Muncie, Ill and Mrs. Ethel Poitner (?) of Camargo, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Muncie, Ill Baptist Church. The Rev. Glenn Patton officiated and burial with the Johnson Home in charge was in Oakwood cemetery. – kbz
