Veedersburg – James E. Tapp, age 54 of Danville, Ill, father of Mrs. Bill (Caroline) Wilhite of Veedersburg was dead on arrival at 9 p.m. Wednesday Oct 4 at Lake View Memorial Hospital in Danville. He was stricken with a heart attack while at a skeet-shoot range north of Danville. Mr. Tapp was born Nov 9, 1912 in Taylorville, Ky, the son of Edward and Emma Miller Tapp. He was married Oct 13, 1934 to Mildred Gossett, who survives. He was a millman at the Elliot Lumber Co in Danville. Surviving, in addition to the wife are: one son, James Jr of Pontiac, Mich; one daughter, Mrs. Wilhite of Veedersburg; his mother, Mrs. Emma D. Tapp of Danville; three sisters, Mrs. Doris Carl and Mrs. Beverly Paddock, both of Charleston, Ill and Mrs. Betty Donovan of Danville and 7 grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Barrick & Son Funeral Home. Floyd Herron officiated and burial was in Songer Cemetery. – kbz
