Daniel Glen Talbot of Mellott, 30-year-old father of 7 children was instantly killed about 3 p.m. Tuesday when his auto struck a bridge abutment on Highway 55 west of Newtown. An employee of Harrison Steel Casting Co at Attica, Talbott was en route to work when the tragic accident occurred. Indiana State Police and Fountain County Coroner Charles Fishero of Veedersburg investigated the crash. They said the Talbott auto was meeting a truck driven by Donald Aker of Crawfordsville as the car approached the narrow bridge. In attempting to stop his auto rather than attempt to pass the truck on the bridge, the car crashed into the abutment. Daniel Glen Talbott was born Feb 1, 1923 at Attica son of Ray and Artie Cobb Talbott. He was a member of Attica Methodist First Church and graduated from Attica HS in 1942. In 1944 he married Viola Wildman who survives. Also surviving are the parents of Attica; 7 children: Daniel Glen Jr; Billy Ray; Bobby Eugene; David Lee; James Edward; Glenna Sue and Nancy all at home and five brothers: Orville, Wendell, Eugene, William and Oliver. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. DST Friday in Attica Methodist Church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Attica.
