At the time of the accident Russell Switzer was returning from a business trip to Danville and was alone in his car. He owned and operated a grocery store and meat market in Wingate. Previously he had been in the grocery and meat business in Newtown. Born near Wingate Sept. 18, 1901, Switzer was the son of James and Hannah Switzer. He married Lucille Murphy Oct. 28, 1922, at Crawfordsville. The widow and two children survive — a son, Glen Albert Switzer, of Attica, and a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Hoffman, of Indianapolis. Mr. Switzer is also survived by his mother, who lives in Waynetown; four brothers, Charles Switzer, Dallas Switzer and Clifford Switzer, all of Lafayette and Orville Switzer, of Crawfordsville, and four sisters, Mrs. Pauline Quillen, of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Leora Ellis, of Hillsboro, and Mrs. Lela Barnett and Mrs. Ethel Schenck, both of Waynetown. Mr. Switzer was a member of the Christian Union church near Waynetown, the Masonic and K. of P. lodges at Newtown, the Eagles and Elks clubs at Crawfordsville, OES chapter at Wingate, the Christian Brotherhood of Wingate and the Community club at Wingate. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock (CDT) Thursday afternoon at the Grenard and Servies mortuary in Waynetown. The rites will be in charge of Rev. Homer Hunsinger, of Seymour. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home after 1 p. m. Wednesday. Burial will be in the Waynetown Masonic cemetery. – kbz
