ATTICA — Loisjean “Jean” (Sarjent) Swift, 72, 607 S. McDonald St., Attica, died at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001 at her residence, following an illness with cancer. She was born Dec. 20, 1928 in Milford, Ill., the daughter of Bert and Ruby Alexander Sarjent. She married Richard “Dick" Swift July 3, 1949 in Attica. He survives. She was raised in Milford and had lived in Attica since the age of 18. She attended school in Milford and graduated from Attica High School in 1946. She attended Purdue University. She worked for Purdue University for 21 years, where she was head of admissions at Purdue University Hospital. She retired in 1991. 4. She was a member of the Attica First United Methodist Church, member of Harrison Hills Ladies Golf Association, West Central Golf Association, U.S.T.A. Twirling Association, 50-year member of the Psi Iota Xi Sorority, Rambler Gold Key Club, and Attica Chapter #125 O.E.S. Survivors, besides the husband, include: a daughter, Tarri A. (Bob) Brickler, Lafayette; two sons, Barri R. (Laurie) Swift, Lafayette and Carri G. (Sandy) Swift, Attica; a sister, Martha (Tom) Gossett, Sr., Attica; and seven grandchildren, Richie Brickler, Colin, Kelsey, Tessa, Emma, Chris and Chelsey Swift. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) in Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with the Rev. Phil Emerson officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the Attica High School Athletic Department or the Attica High School Music Department. – jlr
