SWEET, Cora - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Cora Virgil Sweet of Covington, age 87, died Friday morning, July 1, in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville. She was born in Missouri, June 24, 1896, the daughter of John and Rosa Benner Lewis. November 17, 1913, she married Charles Leroy Sweet, who died March 29, 1960. Mrs. Sweet was a member of First Church of Christ and had operated the Sweet Café in Covington from 1937 to 1945.

  Surviving are two daughters, Nila Craig of Sun City, Arizona, and Virginia Linton of New Richmond; a son, Virgil L. of Valparaiso; a sister, Roxanne O’Connor of Schaumburg, Illinois; 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.

  Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington with Rev. Robert Hentrich and Rev. Greg Linton officiating. Burial was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery near Martinsville, Illinois. -s
