Thomas Moses Swearingen, 88, life time resident of Hillsboro died in the Effie Bever Nursing Home in Hillsboro at 6 a.m. Friday. He had been a patient of the nursing home for four years. Mr. Swearingen was born March 18, 1866 west of Hillsboro, son of Frank and Eliza Blackburn Swearingen. He married Mary Nelson July 18, 1890 and she preceded him in death June 29, 1941. Two sons also preceded him in death, Samuel Orville and Homer Swearingen. Mr. Swearingen was a member of the Hillsboro Methodist Church. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Peark Walker of Hillsboro; Mrs. Sylvia Noggle of Florida; two sons, Francis of Danville, Ill; Emery Guy of Ogden, Ill and a sister Mrs. Elizabaeth Crayton, 85 years of age and two granddaughters. Funeral service was held at the Crumley Funeral Home in Hillsboro at 2 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Kenneth Vetters pastor of the Methodist Church in charge. The pall bearers were: Maurice Williams, Hardy Bever, Harry Rice Joe Newman, Newt Brown and Asa Humphreys who also acted as flower bearers. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro. - kbz
