SUMMERS, Walter Lee

Professsor Walter Lee Summers, a native of Fountain County, died on March 1, at Urbana, Ill., after a distinguished career in Law. He has several cousins still living in Fountain County and was a brother to the late Clarence Summers.
The deceased was the son of Allen G. and Zura Leonard Summers, born May 24, 1888 in Fountain County and attended the Veedersburg schools.  He received his law degree from Indiana University and a doctor of juris prudence degree in 1912 from Yale University.  After a brief time in private law practice, he joined the University of Illinois law faculty in 1921.
He was considered one of the nation's legal experts on Oil and Gas law and was the author of a book on the same subject.  He was a legal consultant for governments and for the Shell Oil Company.
His cousins still living in this area include Mrs. Effie Bever, Hillsboro, Mrs Nellie Isaacs of Sterling and Glen Shuler of Kingman.
