Byron E. Summers 77 a retired farmer d. at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday Jan 31, 1968 in Vermillion Co Hospital, Clinton where he had been a patient two days. Mr. Summers was born July 19, 1890 near Wallace, the son of Joseph and Lear Wagoner Summers. He was married December 21, 1911 to Icie Huffman. She died Oct 14, 1951. Mr. Summers had farmed in the Tangier community for many years and after his retirement had resided in Kingman . He resided at the Parke County Nursing Home the past two years. Survivors include 3 sons; Leroy; Leon and Charles; 3 daughters, Mrs. Warren (Leora) Sheppard; Mrs. Howard (Mildred) DeBaun and Mrs. Charles (Cathryn) Jackman; two brothers, Cyril Summers of Veedersburg RR and Marx Summers of Hillsboro RR; a sister, Mrs. Gertie Hallet of Waynetown; 11 grandchildren and 10 greats. Mr. Summers was a member of the Fairview EUB Church. T he body is at the Tudor Funeral home at Rockville where visitation will be held after 2 p.m. Fri. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sat at the funeral home. The Rev. Eugene Rapson will officiate with bur in Wolf Creek Cemetery south of Wallace.

TANGIER - Byron E. Summers, age 77, a retired farmer, died at 5:30 p.m Wednesday, Jan. 31, in the Vermillion County Hospital at Clinton, where he had been a patient two days.
Mr. Summers was born July 19, 1890 near Wallace, the son of Joseph and Lear Wagoner Summers.  He was married Dec. 21, 1911 to Icie Huffman and she preceded him in death Oct. 14, 1951.
He had farmed in the Tangier community for many years and after his retirement had resided in Kingman.  He resided at the Parke County Nursing Home the past two years.  He was a member of the Fairview  EUB Church.
Survivors include three sons, Leroy of Kingman, Leon of Cedar Lake, and Charles of Cayuga; three daughters Mrs. Warren (Leora) Sheppard of Montezuma, Mrs. Howard (Mildred) DeBaun of Waynetown and Mrs. Charles (Cathryn) Jackman of Indianapolis; two brothers, Cyril Summers of Veedersburg Rt., and Marx Summers of Hillsboro Rt., one sister, Mrs. Gertie Hallett of Waynetown; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Tudor Funeral Home in Rockville.  The Rev. Eugene Rapson officiated and burial was in Wolfe Creek Cemetery, south of Wallace.
