ATTICA — Catherine “Kay” Marie (DeLaya) Sullivan, 80, 425 E. Shawnee Road, Attica, died at 4:55 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006 in her residence following a brief illness with cancer. She was born Nov. 12, 1925 in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of George and Hortense DeLaya. She married Richard Henry Sullivan Sept. 1, 1956 in San Antonio, Texas. He preceded in death Sept. 12, 1997. She was raised in San Antonio, where she graduated from school. She moved to the Attica area in 1974. She formerly worked at Dri-All in Attica and later owned and operated the Guilded Cage Antique Store in Attica for many years. She had also worked as a clerical secretary for St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Attica, in which she was member. She also was an avid bridge player and was a member of local bridge clubs. She was a member of the “Red Hat” Society. She enjoyed sitting out on her back patio enjoying the sereneness of her property and nature. Survivors include: two grandchildren, Alanna Dawn (Sean) Lewis, Muncie and Troy Wade Sullivan, Attica; and two great-grandchildren, Maija and Chandler Lewis, both of Muncie. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert Sullivan; and a sister, Evelyn Vetter. Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Attica, with the Rev. David Rasner officiating. Burial was in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
