COVINGTON—Purlie Chester Suiters, 63, died of a heart attack at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday at his home, Rt. 1 Covington. He had been in ill health three months and underwent surgery two weeks ago. He had been home about a week when fatally stricken. He was a son of Isaac Leonard and Catherine Reath Suiters and was born Sept. 21, 1900 in Wabash Township, Fountain County. Except for 11 years in Vermillion County he lived all his life in Wabash Township. He was a farmer and carpenter. He was married Nov. 29, 1919 to Edith Lucille Brewer, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Merle and Gordon of Rt. 1 Covington; a sister, Mrs. Vernie Lewsader of Lafayette; a brother, Albert F. Suiters of Rt. 1 Covington; a half-sister, Iva Mae Walls of Bloomingdale; the stepmother, Mrs. Marinda Suiters of Marshall, and five grandchildren. Mr. Suiters was a member and for 33 years an elder of the West Liberty Church of Christ, where funeral services are set for 2 p.m. (EST) Friday with Ed Zimmerman and Leslie Parker officiating and burial in the adjoining cemetery. Friends may call at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here after 7 p.m. Wednesday, and the body will lie in state at the church for an hour preceding the services. -- typed by Walt W

Funeral services for - Purlie Chester Suiters, 63, who died at his home on Covington route 1 on on Nov. 26, were held at 2 p.m. last Friday at the West Liberty Church of Christ. Ed Zimmerman and Leslie Parker officiated and interment took place in the cemetery adjoining the church. He had been in ill health and death was attributed to a heart attack.
He was born on Sept. 21, 1900, in Wabash Township, the son of Isaac Leonard and Catherine Heath Suiters. He was married on Nov. 29, 1919, to Edith Lucille Brewer who survives with two sons, Merle and Gordon Suiters, both of Covington route 1; a sister, Mrs. Vernie Lewsader of Lafayette; one brother, Albert F. Suiters, Covington route 1; a half-sister, Mrs. Iva Mae Wells, Bloomingdale; his step-mother, Mrs. Marinda Suiters. of Marshall, and five grandchildren.
Mr. Suiters was an elder of the West Liberty Church for 33 consecutive years and was a life resident of Wabash Township except for ten years when he lived in Vermillion County.
