Funeral services for Ollie Strickler, age 86, of Williamsport, who died at the Community Hospital, Williamsport, at 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the DeSutter Funeral Home in Attica. The Rev. Arthur Schenck, pastor of the Newtown Methodist Church, officiated and burial was in the West Lebanon Cemetery.
Mr. Strickler had been in failing health for some time but his death was unexpected. He was born April 2, 1880, at Staunton, Virginia. He moved to Williamsport from Virginia when he was, 16 years old and he had been a gardener for the past 10 years. Prior to that he was a farmer and construction worker and at one time was employed by the Warren County highway department. He was married to Beulah Raines at West Lebanon and she preceded him in death in 1929. He was a member of the Williamsport Methodist Church.
The survivors include: two sons, Francis Eugene of Williamsport and Gifford Norman of Waynetown; three daughters, Mrs. Ethelda Marie Warner and Mrs. Doris Pauline Thompson, both of Williamsport, and Mrs. Robin Keller of Crawfordsville; 15 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
