STRAWSER, Oveta (Veda) Atkinson - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Mrs. Veda Esther Strawser, age 69, a resident of Covington since 1944, died at 8:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct 22, 1970, at the home of her daughters on Covington Rt. 3. She had been in ill health thre years and was recently hospitalized. Mrs. Strawser was born in Parke County Aug 29. 1901, the daughter of William Thomas and Myrtle May Bales Atkinson. She was married Dec 1, 1917 to Jesse Strawser, who preceded her in death Nov 19 1965. She resided in Parke County during her early life and she also had been a former resident of Indianapolis. She had lived in the Covington area since 1944. she was a member of the Covington Church of the Nazarene. Surviving Mrs. Strawser are: two sons, Elmer Strawser and Raymond Strawser,both of Covington; two daughters, Miss Esther Strawser and Mrs. Shirley Reynolds, both of Covington Rt. 3; 10 grandchildren, one great grandson; twobrothers, Fred Atkinson of Marshall anbd Marvin Atkinson of Newberry; and two sisters, Mrs. Iva Reiff of Covington Rt. 2 and Mrs. Trena Kelley of Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter and one granddaughter. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home.
