Attica - James D. Strawser, 60 of 1403 S Perry St, died at 3:53 p.m.Thursday Nov 20 at Home Hospital, Lafayette.  He had been in failing health since July of 1995.  Born April 21, 1937 in Covington he attended School in Covington.  He married Bonita C. Johnson July 7, 1962 in Shawneetown, Ill.  She survives.  He resided in Attica most of his life. Mr. Strawser worked at Harrison Steel Castings Company and as a truck driver and radio operator at the Indiana State Highway Department where he retired due to ill health.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 52 of Attica where he served as commander and vice commander.  He served in the Navy.  He enjoyed sports, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He also played amateur baseball and basketball.  

Surviving with his wife are three sons: Charles "Chuck" Easter of Hedrick, Roland Easter in the Navy, stationed in Hawaii and James Strawser of Lafayette; a daughter, Mrs. Colin (Monica) Whisenant of Attica; two sisters, Paulette Spivey of Williamsport, and Carol Jo Strawser of Covington and six half brothers, Leslie Strawser of Georgia; Wendell Strawser of Terre Haute; Alva Strawser of Covington; John Hannon of Stone Bluff, Bobby Hannon of Attica and Ricky Beaufort of South Carolina.

"Funeral Notices" - Friends may call 5-9 p.m. Sunday at Maus Funeral Home, Attica. Services there 2 p.m. Monday.  Pastor Harvey Lange officiating.  Interment with graveside services at Riverside Cemetery, Attica.  Surviving are 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his father, James Strawser and a brother, Dale Strawser.   - kbz
