Earl Strawser, 81, died 8 p.m. Jan. 26 at Lee Memorial Hospital at Ft. Myers, Fla. He had been hospitalized Jan. 4 and underwent surgery Jan. 13.
He was born July 15, 1893, in Vermillion County, the son of James Andrew and Amanda Sanders Strawser. He married Marie N. gaskin Aug. 26, 1914, and she preceded him in death Nov. 29, 1965.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Roy (Louise) Hunter, Covington; Mrs. Robert (Helen) Ball, Ft. Myers Beach, Fla.; one son, Robert E. Strawser, Rt. 4, Veedersburg; six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Gouty, Covington; Mrs. Pearl Elliot, Danville, Ill.; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, a granddaughter, four brothers and four sisters.
He was a life resident of the Foster community until he moved to Covington in 1966 to make his home with a daughter. He was a retired superintendent of Neal Gravel Co. where he worked many years. He was a member of Benson Chapel United Methodist Church, Fountain Lodge No. 60 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Danville.
Funeral will be Thursday, Jan. 30, 2 p.m. at the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington with Rev. Robert Miller officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday. Masonic services will be held there Wednesday at 8 p.m. – thanks to S
