STRADER, Sherman S. - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Sherman S. Strader, 64, highly regarded and well known farmer living north of Veedersburg in Shawnee Township, died Friday morning of a heart attack about 4:30 o'clock. Mr. Strader had been ill with heart trouble for several months, but was able to be up and around.

He had been a leader in civic affairs all of his life and was active in the Fountain County Farm Bureau as a director, and member of the Union Christian Church.

He was born Feb 18, 1879 at the home where his death occurred, son of Daniel and Frances Matilda Leath Strader.  He was married Oct 4, 1905 to Anna Olive Barker, who survives.  Also surviving is one daughter, Naomi of Indianapolis, and one sister, Miss Nettie Strader of Veedersburg.

Funeral services were held at the family residence Sunday afternoon with Rev. Milford Knowles officiating. Burial in Union Cemetery.   --- transcribed by kbz

Sherman S. Strader, a prominent Shawnee Twp farmer, died about 4:45 o'clock Fri morning at his home south of Attica. He had been ill with heart trouble for several months, but was able to be up and about the house most of the time.  Mr. Strader was a public spirited man and was always a leader i n public affairs of the county and community. He was an active worker in the Fountain County Farm Bureau and was engaged in farming all his life. He was born Feb 18, 1879 in Shawnee Twp, the son of  Daniel and Frances Matilda Leath Strader.  He was married Oct 4, 1905 to Anna Olive Barker who survives, along with one daughter, Miss Naomi, who is now employed in Indianapolis.  One sister, Miss Netti Strader of Veedersburg also survives.  He was a member of the Union Christian Church SE of Attica and served as trustee of the Union Cemetery organization.  The body was prepared for burial at Coffing & Robinson Funeral Home and was taken late this afternoon to the family home where friends may call.  The funeral will be held at the residence south of Attica at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon,  Rev Milford Knowles officiating.   --- transcribed by kbz
