Veedersburg -- Charles Alvin Stonebraker, 80, a retired farmer in the shale pit at the Veedersburg Brick Co. died at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday in his home. He had been ill two years. He was born Oct 5, 1882, in Wingate and his parents were James and May Livingston Stonebraker. He first married Lydia Lightle. After her death, he married Edith Shirley. Survivors include the widow, 7 sons, Morris, Larry and Charles of Veedersburg, James of Covington, William and Jack of Kingman and Carl of Ft. Riley, KS; four daughters, Mrs. Izetta Douglas and Mrs. Beverly Keeling of Veedersburg; Mrs. Ona Mornout of Covington and Mrs. Eleanor West of Waynetown; a brother, Ory of Danville, Ill; a sister, Roxie Schaffer of Chicago and 17 grandchildren. The body was taken to the Fishero Funeral in Veedersburg - funeral arrangements are pending.

Charles Alvin Stonebraker, 80, a retired foreman for the Veedersburg Shale Pit, died at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 1962, at his home. He had been in failing health two years.
Funeral services will be held at the Fishero Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 30 at 1 p.m., with Rev. J. Samuel Pritchard officiating. Burial will be in Rockfield Cemetery.Born Oct. 5 1882, at Wingate, he was the son of James and Mary Livingston Stonebraker. He moved to Veedersburg with his parents as a child. He was first married to Lydia Lightle, who preceded him in death. He later married Edith Shirley, who survives.
Other survivors include seven sons, Morris of Veedersburg, James of Covington, William and Jack, both of Kingman, Larry and Charles, both at home, and Carl in the Army at Ft. Riley, Kan.; four daughters, Mrs. Izetta Douglas and Mrs. Beverly Keeling, both of Veedersburg, Mrs. Ona Mournout of Covington and Mrs. Eleanor West of Waynetown; a brother, Ora of Danville, Ill.;, a sister, Mrs. Roxie Shaffer of Chicago and 17 grandchildren.
