STOCKDALE, Lydia Fouts

Lydia E. Fouts, daughter of John and Isabel Fouts was born April 30, 1861 and died at her home in Attica, Dec 22,1914, after a brief illness of 3 days. She was in her usual health on Saturday and during the day attended to the duties about her home and in the evening in company with her daughter went down town to do some shopping. While thus engaged and pleasantly passing the time among her friends, a stroke of paralysis came and after being removed to her home a second stroke came which took her from friends and loved ones. She lay in an unconscious condition until Tuesday evening when in the quiet of the evening she passed gently away. She was married to James A. Stockdale Aug 19, 1881 and to this union 5 children were born, Mrs. Gertie Skaggs, Truman and Charles Stockdale of Waynetown; Lilly, who resided with her parents in Attica, Effie, who died in 1897. Besides her husband she leaves one brother, John A. Fouts and one sister, Ida A. Fouts of Waynetown; one half-sister, Mary E. Hays of Franklin, Ind; and a half-brother, C. E. Grenard of Waynetown Six grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives will also mourn her death. She was a member of the United Brethren Church at Snyder Chapel and in that faith she continued until her death. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday afternoon, Rev. J.P. Henson. Interment at Masonic Cemetery, Waynetown.
