STOCKDALE, Laura Myers

Mrs. Laura Jane Stockdale, 82 died Sunday in Indianapolis after a prolonged illness. Since her health failed two years ago she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. William H. Hoover in the capital city. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Harriet Myers of Fountain County and was born June 5, 1872.  She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Harriet Myers of Fountain County and was born June 5, 1872. When she was 17 years old she began teaching school and she continued in this profession until her marriage to Frank Stockdale. She then went with her husband to establish a home in Frankfort.  After Mr. Stockdale’s death 25 years ago she continued to live in the home place at 1308 N Main Street.  Mrs. Stockdale had a wide reputation for her success in railing unusual varieties of flowers.  Her flowers attracted throngs of visitors throughout the growing seasons. She was a member of the Indiana Delphinium Club. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Frankfort where she taught a Sunday School class for many years.  Services were held in the Goodwin Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Raphael Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Bunnell Cemetery. Survivors besides the daughter are two sons, Paris S. Stockdale of Knoxville, Tenn and Don E. Stockdale of Michigan City, Ind; two sisters, Mrs. Harry C. McKinsie, Kingman and Mrs. Rose Clark, Los Angeles; one brother, Perry Myers, Kingman ;three children and three great grandchildren. – kbz
