George Stockdale, 71, prominent farmer died Friday morning at 6:30 o'clock Death was due to heart trouble from which he had been suffering for several months. Mr. Stockdale recently had returned to his home SW of here after spending several weeks under observation in the Lakeview Hospital, Danville, Ill. The deceased was born 4-5-1859 the son of James & Emily Groves Stockdale. He was united in marriage on Sept 29, 1885 to Ellen Booe, who has been dead for 15 years. The deceased was a member of the Scotts Prairie Church. The survivors are two daugthers, Mrs. William Coats of Steam Corner and Miss Fannie Stockdale; 7 sons: Jefferson of near Alamo; Charles, Guy and Rex of near Hillsboro; Arthur of Danville, Ill; Ralph of near Wlalace and Paul who lives with his father; two sisters, Mrs Andy Robinson of Iowa and Mars Hattie DeMotte of near Indianpaolis and one brother, Mahlon of near Marshall. The funeral services will be held at the home Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock with Rev OW McGaughey of Veedersburg in charge. Burial will take place in the Rockfield cemetery west of Hillsboro.

Hillsboro – Funeral services were set for Sunday afternoon at the home, with interment in Rockfield cemetery near here for George Stockdale, 71, prominent farmer, who died early Friday. He was born April 5, 1859, a son of James and Emily Groves Stockdale and was married Sept 29, 1885, to Ellen Booe, who died 15 years ago. Surviving are two daughters, seven sons, two sisters and a brother.
