George Arthur Stockdale 63 of 515 Lafayette Street, died at 5:55 a.m. Sunday April 7, 1963 in Lakeview Mem Hospital where he was admitted at 4:40 a.m. Death was unexpected and was caused by a heart condition. Born August 1, 1899 at Veedersburg Ind he was a son of George B. and Ella Booe Stockdale. He had resided in Danville since 1920. He attended the Steam Corner School south of Veedersburg and was graduated from the Utterback-Brown Business College in Danville. He was formerly employed by Allith-Prouty Co. Sugar Creek Creamery, Consolidated Products and with the Internal Revenue Service. He had operated a tax consultant office at 805 N. Logan Avenue since 1958. He was married December 2, 1921 at Veedersburg to Nellie Pyle who survives. Also surviving are 3 sons: Richard N. in the US Army in France; Jack C of Danville and Ronald L of Billings, Mont; a daughter, Miss Marilyn Sue Stockdale of Durham, NC: two brothers, Guy of Veedersburg and Ralph of Crawfordsville; a sister, Mrs. Vereta Coats of Hillsboro Ind and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. Mr. Stockdale was an active member of the YMCA. The body is at the Pape Memorial Home where friends will be received 7-9 p.m. Monday and 2-4 and 7-9 Tuesday. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. James W. Grimes officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
