COVINGTON — John F. Stewart Jr., 64, Covington, died at 6 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000 in St. Vincent Hospice, Indianapolis. He was born Sept. 9, 1935 in Old Hickory, Tenn., the son of John F. and Edith Ladd Rudolph Stewart. He married Ruth Miller April 7, 1956 in Waynesville, N.C., who survives. He retired as production scheduling supervisor in 1993 after 39 years with Olin and Flexel. He had been a resident of Covington since Aug. 2, 1956 and a former resident of Brevard, N.C. He graduated from Brevard High School in 1953. He was a member of Rivercrest Golf Club. Survivors, besides the wife, include: a daughter, Anne (Ken) Scheppele, Carol Stream, Ill.; a brother, James H. (Becky) Stewart, Columbia, S.C., and a sister-in-law, Janet Stewart, Williamsport. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Stewart. Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington, with Pastor Paul Kent officiating. Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, was in charge of arrangements.
