Billie Joe Stevens of Danville, Illinois, age 37, died Sunday morning, March 28, in Burnham Hospital at Urbana, Illinois. He was born at Danville, July 24, 1944, the son of Lawrence Raymond and Mary Ruth Walters Stevens. He married Karen Lynn Talbert High, who survives. An Army veteran, he had attended Lincoln School and had been employed as a painter at General Motors Central Foundry, Esco Corporation, Circle Iron and Metal and Danville Industrial Painting.
Also surviving are three sons, Billie Joe, Timothy W. and Randall Wayne, all at home; his mother, Mary Ruth Arlington of West Lebanon; four sisters, Patricia Ann Grupe of Veedersburg, Mary Elizabeth Stinnett and Kathy Christine Forman, both of Danville, and Caroline Louise Vandeventor of Kalamazoo, Michigan; and two brothers, Larry Reginald and David Neil Stevens, both of Danville.
Funeral services were held Tuesday night at Pape Memorial Home in Danville with Rev. Bill Thompson officiating. Following cremation, burial will be in Rock Cemetery near Georgetown, Illinois.
