Aurora – Ivan Stembaugh, 85, rural Aurora, died Wednesday afternoon in Brookings Hospital after an illness of three months. Mr. Stembaugh was born Dec 26, 1899 in Veedersburg, Ind. He came to South Dakota when he was 19 and began farming south of Aurora. He married Martha Lunscher Dec 11, 1922 in Flandreau. He continued to farm south of Aurora until 1935, when he moved to his present farm in Parnell Township. His wife died in September 1939. He married Maleta Guemmer Nov 4, 1945 in Pipestone, Minn. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Virgil, Aurora and Gilbert, LaHabra, Calif; two daughters, Mrs. Max (Mavis) Erwin Hot Springs and Mrs. Wesley (Evelyn) McCaskell, Rapid City; six grandsons and five great grandchildren. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday in Skroch Funeral Chapel, Elkton. Burial will be in Elkton City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. today in the funeral chapel.
