OTTAWA, Ill. — Alfred J. Stelk, 76, Ottawa, Ill., died Wednesday, April 17, 2002 in his home, after a two-month illness. He was born Oct. 1, 1925 in Oak Park, Ill., the son of Alfred and Clara Walker Stelk. He married Audrey Nelson May 30, 1952 in Kankakee. She survives. He was a former resident of Covington and Danville, Ill. and a former employee of WDAN radio. He retired as manager of Sammons Communications. He was in the Navy during World War II and served with a destroyer fleet. He was a member of the American Legion and a charter member and past president of the Illinois Indiana Cable Association. Survivors, besides the wife, include: a daughter, Claran Einfeldt, Springfield, Ill.; two sons, Alfred J. Stelk, Ill, Crawfordsville and Andrew J. Stelk, Monticello, Minn.; a brother, Roger Stelk, Kankakee; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, a brother, and a granddaughter. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday in Mueller Funeral Home, 800 First Ave., Ottawa, with the Rev. Dale Katcher officiating. Burial with military rites was in St. Columba Cemetery, Ottawa. – jlr
