Hillsboro - Mrs. Flora Temple Starnes, 85, wife of Henry I. Starnes, former Crawfordsville Journal-Review solicitor, died at 8 a.m. Monday in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville where she had been a patient since Saturday. Born in Wingate where she spent her childhood, Mrs. Starnes had lived in Hillsboro since her marriage to Mr. Starnes. Her husband, retired from active business is one of HIllsboro's most prominent residents. Survivors include a daughter Mrs. Ethel Dwiggins of Goshen, two sons, Harry Starnes of Crawfordsville and Fred Starnes of near Hillsboro. The body was taken to the Crumley Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Source: The obituary is from a collection of newspaper (paper names not recorded) obituaries saved, by Fauniel Hershberger, during the 1950's, 60's, 70's and 80's. She was a life long resident of Fountain County Indiana.  The collection is now housed at Crawfordsville District Public Library.

HILLSBORO -- Mrs. Flora Starnes, 85, wife of Henry I. Starnes, former Crawfordsville Journal-Review solicitor, died about 8 a.m. Monday in Culver Hospital. She had been hospitalized since Saturday. Born May 9, 1874, at Wingate, she was the daughter of Newton and Mary Bodkin Temple. She married Mr. Starnes in 1892. Mrs. Starnes was a member of the Hillsboro Methodist Church and a Past Worthy Matron of Fern Chapter of OES. Mr. Starnes, retired from active business, is one of Hillsboro's most prominent residents. Survivors include the husband; two sons, Harry of Crawfordsville and Fred of Hillsboro; a daughter, Mrs. Ethel Dwiggins of Goshen; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Crumley Funeral Home here with Rev. Sheldon Garriott, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic cemetery.
