Mrs. Etta Eola Starnes, 78, died at 4:20 p.m. Saturday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Joe Wheeler, 1201 Danville Ave. Her condition had been serious since June 25. A native of Lafayette, she was born November 11, 1883 to Thomas Levi and Susan Vice Sampson and married Arnet Ivan Starnes November 13, 1898. They moved to this city from Marshall in 1919 and Mr. Starnes who died April 26, 1921 was in the automobile business here. Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Charles Linn, Mrs. Hubert Shepherd, Mrs. Harold Weaver, Mrs. Vela Moore and Mrs. Wheeler all of Crawfordsville; and Mrs. Robert Lind of Indianapolis; a sister, Mrs. John Summers of Frankfort and six grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. A son, Ivan Hubert Starnes preceded his mother in death. Funeral rites are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home where friends may call after 1 p.m. Monday, Rev. Paul Million will officiate and burial will be in Oak HIll Cemetery.
