STARNES, Arthur Ellsworth

Ellsworth Starnes, a life long resident of the vicinity of Wallace, died Wednesday of last week at a hospital in Indianapolis, following a long illness of a complication of troubles. He was born near Wallace on July 24 1866, the son of Henry and Katherine Myers Starnes and on December 16 1888 he was married to Mahala Alward. Mr. Starnes was a member of the Freedom Christian church and was widely known throughout Fountain and Montgomery counties. He is survived by his wife, three sons, Reed, Faris and Arthur Starnes and two daughters, Mrs. Emory Fender and Mrs. Foren Myers, all living in Wallace and its vicinity. Nine grandchildren also survive. The funeral was held from the freedom Christian church west of Wallace Saturday afternoon at two o'clock. The Rev. J. D. Hampton of Advance officiated and burial was made at the Zackmire cemetery. Lewis Starnes Sr. and Charles Starnes Sr. of Hillsboro are brothers of the deceased.
