Harry R. Starkey, age 57, resident of Stone Bluff and trustee of Van Buren Twp died at 9:55 p.m. Sunday, May 15 at St. Eliz. hospital at Danville, Ill where he had been a patient for a week. He had been in failing health several years. At the time of his death, Mr. S. was a member of the Van Bur. Twp. School Board and of the Ft. Co Welfare Board. A school teacher for 33 years, he retired 3 years ago. He was also a member of the Veedersburg Masonic Lodge, the Wallace Low 12 Club & the EUB Church of Stone Bluff. He was born 11-14-1897 in Cates, the son of Joseph and Emanline Starkey. on 12 April 1910 he married Sallie Brown who survives. Surviving in addition to the widow are his father, stepmother of Kingman, 3 daughters, Mrs. Betty Templeton of So. Bend; Mrs. Bobby Brimberry of Stone Bluff and Miss Jane Starkey of Danville, Ill; 4 sons, Joe of Evansville, Blayne of Stone Bluff, William at home & Harry, jr. serving with the US Army in Korea, 4 sisters Mrs. Viola Howard of Attica, Mrs. Lola Pugh of Danville, Ill; Mrs. Marg. Smith of Attica & Mrs. Gertie Abernathy of Covington, 2 brothers, Bryant of Shelbyville and William of Covington and 9 grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clok Wed aft. at the Stone Bluff EUB Church. The Rev. Bennett Fulp, assisted by the Rev. Harry Smith, officiated and burial was in Osborn Prarie Cem. northeast of Covington. - kbz

Harry R. Starkey, 57, trustee of VanBuren Township in Fountain County. He taught school 33 years and at the time of his death was a member of the VanBuren Township School Board and the Fountain County Welfare Board. Burial today. - kbz

Harry Raymond Starkey, 57 of Stone Bluff died at 9:55 p.m. Sunday May 15, 1955 at St. Elizabeth Hospital where he had been a patient one week. He had been in ill health several months. Mr. Starkey was born Nov 14, 1897 at Cates, Ind son of Joseph and Emaline Barker Starkey. He married Sally Brown April 12, 1920 who survives. Surviving are three daughters: Mrs. Betty Templeton of South Bend; Mrs. Bobby Briberry of Stone Bluff and Jayne Starkey at home; four sons, Joe Thomas Starkey of Evansville; Harry Raymond Starkey, Jr station in Korea; Blayne Starkey of Stone Bluff and William at home; four sisters, Mrs. Marguerite Smith and Mrs. Viola Howard, both of Attica; Mrs. Lola Pugh of Danville and Mrs. Gertrude Abernathy of Covington; two brothers, Bryant Starkey of Shelbyville and William Starkey of Covington and 9 grandchildren. Also surviving is his father, Joseph Starkey. He was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church of Stone Bluff. – kbz

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Smith and Hulda called at the home of Harry STARKEY of Stone Bluff Tuesday evening. Mr. Starkey passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Illinois Sunday night. He was a cousin of Mrs. Smith's.
