David A. Starkey, 46, of Veedersburg, died at 9:11 a.m., Thursday, May 11, 2000 in St. Vincent’s Hospital, Indianapolis. Born on August 16, 1953 in Lafayette, he was the son of Samuel Blayne and Charlotte (Hancock) Starkey. He was married in Veedersburg on June 20, 1978 to Anita R. Florey. She survives. Also surviving, are: his mother, Charlotte of Covington; a son, Jeff and a daughter, Anna, both of Veedersburg; two brothers, Dennis (Denise) Starkey of Defiance, Ohio and Steve (Phyllis) Starkey of Covington. He was preceded in death by his father on May 7, 2000. David was a member of the White Horse Christian Church of West Lafayette. A graduate of Covington High School, he had worked for Olin Corp. in Covington and was employed by the Covington School Corp. He was very active in his church and was an avid sports fan. Visitation was Friday at Dickerson Funeral Home, Veedersburg. Service there on Saturday with Rev. Gay Johnson officiating. Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington. Memorial tributes may be made to the donor’s choice. – jlr
