COVINGTON — Funeral services for the Rev. Clyde Stanley, age 64, former pastor of the South Side Church of the Nazarene, Danville, Ill., and brother of Mrs. Verdia Bowen of Covington, who died unexpectedly at his home at Chariton, Iowa, at midnight, Friday, May 2, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Church of the Nazarene in Danville.
Dr. Gene Phillips of Iowa and the Rev. J. C. Collins and the Rev. Samuel Smith of Danville officiated and burial was in Gundy Cemetery near Bismarck, Ill. The Lakeside Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
The Rev, Stanley was born May 31, 1905, at Reardon, Ill., the son of Harry and Florence Miller Stanley. He was married in 1925 in Covington to Gladys Watson of Danville and she survives.
Also snrviving are: one daughter, Mrs, Jim (Dorothy) Diehl of Oskaloosa, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Beulah Bounds of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Bowen of Covington and four grandchildren.
He was a graduate of Olivet College of the Nazarene. He was founder of the South Side Church of the Nazarene.
