WILLIAMSPORT — James R. Stamm, 75, rural Williamsport, died at 1:05 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002 at his residence. He had been in failing health the past 10 years. He was born July 3, 1927 in Rutherford, the son of Andrew and Matti Drexler Stamm. He married Mary Henderson June 20, 1948 in Linton. He was a lifetime resident of rural Williamsport. He graduated from Marco High School. He was a retired laborer and shipping clerk at Hyster Company, Danville, Ill. for 18 years. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post #479 at Lyons. He enjoyed gardening, hunting mushrooms, working on lawn tractors, coffee time with his buddies and his great-grandchildren. Survivors include: a son, James R. (Janet) Stamm, Covington; a daughter, Linda Talbott, Danville, Ill.; a brother, Richard Stamm, Linton; a sister, Katie (Boyce) Renfro, Louisville, Ky., grandchildren, Patti Moody, Ginger Smith, Kelly Shoaf, Jessica Stamm; step grandchildren, Carrie Craig, Tobby Grubbs, Nick Grubbs; 5 great-grandchildren; and 5 step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters. Funeral services were at 1 p.m. in Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home, Lyons. Inurement will be at a later date. – jlr
