Washington - Labert St. Clair, 62, industrial counsel and writer and former member of the Associated Press staffs in Chicago and Washington. He was born in Veedersburg, Ind.

Washington, Dec. 19 - Labert St. Clair, 62, an industrial counsel and former Illinois newspaperman, died Saturday. St. Clair headed the house of representatives staff of the Associated Press before the first world war. He later wrote a syndicated column, in addition to several books and numerous magazine articles. Death came unexpectedly while he was horseback riding. He dismounted and crumpled. By the time help reached him, he was dead. St. Clair became a country correspondent for the Danville, Ill., Democrat in the early 1900's and later was one of its local reporters. He worked for the Associated Press in Chicago later. Surviving are his widow, Mae, and two daughters, Mrs. Jerome Hardy of New York City and Mrs. Richard West of Decatur, Ill.
