Helen (Smith) Sprinkle, 88, a resident of Lafayette, died at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette, at 11:45 p.m. Sunday, September 10, 2000. She had been in failing health several years. Born near Williamsport on April 14, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Pete and Winnie (Hall) Smith. She had lived in Attica several years before moving to Lafayette in 1959. Her marriage was August 12, 1939 in Lafayette to Gerald E. Sprinkle, a former employee of Brown Rubber Co. He survives. Mrs. Sprinkle was a homemaker and loved flea markets and traveling. Also surviving, are; one daughter, Mary Etta (William B.) Claypool of Williamsport; four grandchildren, Virginia Howard of rural Attica, Jerry Claypool of Lafayette, Bonnie McGowen of Williamsport and Cathy Bowlus of rural Williamsport; 12 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a sister and a brother. Visitation was one hour prior to service on Wednesday at Fisher Funeral Home, Williamsport, with Pastor David Adams officiating. LAFAYETTE — Helen (Smith) Sprinkle, 88, a resident of 1530 N. 12th St., Lafayette, died at 11:45 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000 in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette. She had been in failing health for several years. She was born April 14, 1912 near Williamsport, the daughter of Pete and Winnie Hall Smith. She married Gerald E. Sprinkle, Aug. 12, 1939 in Lafayette. He is a former employee of Brown Rubber Company, Lafayette. He survives. She had lived in Attica several years before moving to Lafayette in 1959. She was a homemaker and loved flea markets and traveling. Survivors, besides the husband, include: a daughter, Mary Etta (William) Claypool, Williamsport; four grandchildren, Virginia Howard, rural Attica, Jerry Claypool, Lafayette, Bonnie McGowen, Williamsport and Cathy Bowlus, rural Williamsport; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister and a brother. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) in Fisher Funeral Home, Williamsport, with Pastor David Adams officiating. Visitation will be one hour before service. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Williamsport. – jlr
