ATTICA — Emerson F. “Punk” Sprinkle, 82, 909 S. Perry St., Attica, died at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002 in VA Illiana Health Care System, Danville, Ill. He was born Dec. 5, 1919 in Attica, the son of Elmer and Iva Irwin Sprinkle. He was a life resident of Attica, where he attended Attica schools. He formerly worked for the Poston Herron Brick Plant in Attica and later worked for the Neal Gravel Company in Attica until his retirement. He mowed lawns for area residents of Attica for many years. He was a veteran of World War Ii serving in the U. S. Navy. He saw action in the Pacific Theater. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post #3318 of Attica, a former member of the Moose Lodge of Attica, and a member of the International Union of North America Local #204. Survivors include: a son, John (Connie) Sprinkle, Attica; a daughter, Karen (Donnie) Childress, Attica; two brothers, Frankie Sprinkle. Ft. Wayne and Gerald Sprinkle, Lafayette; a sister, Bernadine (Bob) Harden, Covington; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Billy Lee Sprinkle; a sister, Genevieve Sprinkle; and a brother, Donald Sprinkle. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with the Rev. Robert Roop officiating. Burial with military rites were in Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made made to the Alzheimer's Foundation. – jlr
