A coroner’s inquest was held Wednesday at the Coffing & Robinson funeral parlors over the body of Donald Sprinkle, the six-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Sprinkle of this city who died early Wednesday morning as a result of injuries received Tuesday evening when he was hit by an auto driven by Ray Borst. The testimony of the boy’s father at the inquest was that Mr. Sprinkle and son were walking in the pavement on North Perry Street about 6 o’clock Tuesday evening and that when a car approached them from the north the boy became frightened and pulled away from his father and ran across the east side of the pavement in front of the Borst machine; that Borst tried to avoid hitting the lad and stopped his auto as quickly as possible. While Coroner Frank Shelby did not give a verdict immediately following the inquest, there was no testimony given by any witnesses that would throw the blame for the accident on Borst.
