Covington—Herbert B. “Jay” Spring, 81, Covington, died at 4:28 p.m. Saturday, May 27, 1989 at United Samaritans Medical Center, Logan Campus, Danville, Ill.
He was born Aug. 13, 1907 in Sidell, Ill., the son of Herbert and Jane Barnett Spring. He was married Dec. 23, 1937 to Mary Alice Young, who preceded him in death April 3, 1973.
He had been a resident of the Covington area since 1935. He was a former resident of Paulding, Ohio and Sidell, Ill. He had been a farmer all his life, retiring in 1973.
Surviving are two brothers, Robert E., Covington, and Walter Joseph, Pinetop, Ariz.; a sister-in-law, Thelma Hoskins, Route 2 Covington, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, Covington. -s
