COVINGTON – S T “Tink” Spivey, 73, of 807 Elmore, Crawfordsville, died at 11:37 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9 at Culver Hospital. He had been a patient there two days. Born Oct. 1, 1897, in Jackson, Miss., he was the son of D. E. and Mattie Guess Spivey. He was married Nov. 23, 1919, to Ruth Coffing, who survives. A retired farmer, Mr. Spivey also had resided in the Covington and Kingman areas. He had been employed by the Indiana State Highway Department and Crawfordsville Street Department. Other survivors include two sons, Theron “Bud” of Roachdale and Harry of Hillsboro; three daughters, Mrs. Charles (Genieve) Reffett of Covington, Mrs. Eugene (Arletta) Helms of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Ernest (Jeanette) Lutes of Attica; two brothers, Alious of Neveda, Iowa, and George of Kingman; two sisters, Mrs. Wilda DeBruicker of Lafayette and Mrs. Gladys Balliu of Rock Island, Ill.; 22 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and three step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Services were 3 p.m. Saturday at the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home. The Rev. Dale Cademan officiated. Burial was in the Kingman Fraternal Cemetery. – jl
