Challen C. Spinning, a well known retired farmer died at 4:30 o’clock Friday afternoon at his home in Covington. Death was caused by paralysis, he having suffered a stroke that morning while at his farm two miles west of Covington. Mr. Spinning had been at his farm looking after his stock when he was stricken and a small boy of the tenant family residing on the farm, seeing him fall, rushed to a gravel pit nearby where help was summoned. The injured man was removed to the house, the Kerr ambulance summoned and the stricken man was taken to h is home in Covington where physicians were summoned to attend him. He never regained consciousness from the time he was stricken. Mr. Spinning was born in Covington 60 years ago, a son of Dr. JN Spinning and wife both of whom have since passed away. In 1878, he was married to Miss Hortense Adamson who survives him as well as six children. They are Mrs. Maude Smith and Miss Nina Spinning of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; James and John Spinning, both of whom are working in Danville; Mrs. Lynn West and Miss Berna Spinning of Covington; Harry E. Spinning of Boswell is a brother of the decedent. The funeral was conducted Sunday afternoon and burial was made at Covington. - kz
