RIVERDALE, Calif. (AP)—Dr. Alva L. Spinning, an Indiana physician for more than 50 years before his retirement in 1941, died Wednesday night in the home of a daughter here. He was 93 years old. An 1891 graduate of the Indiana University medical school, Dr. Spinning was Indiana State Prison physician from 1895 to 1901 and founded the first hospital at the institution. He was county health commissioner of Fountain County for more than 20 years and at one time was city manager of Covington. He was a ninth generation American and a direct ancestor was with Washington at Valley Forge.   --typed by Walt W
