BEN SPARKS,   a veteran of the Civil war who came to this place several months ago from near
Silverwood, died Saturday evening after a lingering illness. Mr. Sparks lived alone in one of the Teegarden houses near the Friends church, kind friends of the aged veteran administering a great deal to his wants during his last days on earth.    The deceased’s son, Henry,  who is a wealthy commission broker in St. Louis, came Monday morning and saw that his father was nicely laid to rest.   The son had often made appeals to his father to make his home with them but it seems that the old gentleman preferred to live alone.   He also has one daughter,  and was about 70 years of age.

Funeral services were held from the C. M. Spencer home on Monday, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Fraternal cemetery north of this place. -s
