SOWERS, Perry - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

A retired Poplar Grove barber, Perry A. Sowers, 81, died at 12:10 p.m. Sunday at Sutton’s Nursing Home following a ½ year illness. He was born Dec 10, 1880 in Jasper County, the son of William and Martha (Shanks) Sowers.  He was educated in Jasper County and Parke County, Indiana. He married Lydia Dix on Dec 7, 1905 in Indiana. Mr. Sowers lived in Poplar Grove for the past 21 years and was a member of the Federated Church.  He is survived by his widow; 2 daughters, Mrs. Roberta Presnell, Rockford and Mrs. Waneta Kern, New Smyrna Beach, Fla and a granddaughter, Mrs. Jane Bean, Miami, Fla. His sister preceded him in death (Cora born/died Fountain County Oct 19 1892 – Nov 25, 1898).  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Federated Church, Rev. Joseph Housh will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Rockford. Friends may call at the church after 10 a.m. Tuesday. Arrangements were made by Witbeck-Wheeler-Sabien Funeral home. – kbz
