Maude Sowers was born July 2, 1877.
Died April 27, 1901, aged 23 years, 9 months and 25 days. For more than three
years her health has been gradually failing but not until within the past ten
days were the symptoms of disease such as to cause undue anxiety to herself and
family. During these last days she seemed to realize that the end was near, and
frequently spoke to the family telling them that she was resigned and willing
to die, and would pray to be taken home. Maude was converted when 13 years of
age, but failing to live as closely to her Master as was her privilege she grew
cold. Two years ago she renewed her covenant with her Savior. We can truthfully
say she was susceptible to and sympathetic with others in their troubles, and
looked on the cheerful side of life, thus often bringing sunshine to those
around her. She leaves a father, mother, one sister and two brothers and
numerous friends, who will cherish her memory and mourn her loss. The funeral
services were held at the Friends Church at Kingman Sunday, Apr. 28, at 11
a.m., and were conducted by Sarah T. McKey, and her remains were laid to rest
in the Harveysburg Cemetery. A large crowd was in attendance at the services.
G. W. Sowers and family wish to thank the many sympathetic, friends who so
thoughtfully aided and consoled them in their sad hour of affliction. – jlr
