SOWERS, Mattie Schact - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Mrs. Mattie Sowers, 75, a former Kingman resident died at 9 p.m. Tues Nov 21 in St. John's Hosp at Anderson. Mrs. Sowers was a member of the Wabash Ave. Presbyterian Church, Athens Chapter of OES, Home Demons Club and was a charter member of the Home ec club. Mr. Sower was b. June 17, 1897 at Chicago Heights, Il the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George F. Schact. She married Gordon A. Sowers in 1917. He survives. Mr. Sowers was Montgomery County Agriculature Agent for 20 years. Other survivors include a son, Gordon of Arlington Va a sister, Mrs. Barbara Ecker of Anderson, two brothers, Walter of Venango PA and Herbert of outh Haven,Minn; two sisters, Mrs. CW blank of Mathis, Tx; and Mrs. Jim McKinney of Watkins, MN and 5 grandchildren. Services for Mrs. Sowers were held Friday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with the Rev Larimore Wickett offic. Entombment in Oak Hil Mausoleum. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday.
