SOWERS, Martha Shanks

Martha J. Sowers, daughter of Frederic and Elizabeth Shanks was born Oct. 13 1861, died Feb. 25 1907. Aged 45 years 4 monthsand12 days. She was united in marriage to Wm. M. Sowers in 1880, to this union was born two children, Perry A. and Cora E. The latter departed this life November 25 1898. The former is left with the husband and father to mourn the loss of a loving and affectionate wife and mother, together with her father, mother, sisters and brothers and a number of relatives and friends. She was received in the Lutharian church at Gila, Ill., in the year of 1884, and continued a member until death. And remained a true and consistent Christian, until called to her reward. She was a constant sufferer for fourteen months. She bore her troubles with patience and was always cheerful in her home. The funeral was held Tuesday, Services being conducted in the U. B. church at Kingman by Rev. Whitman assisted by Rev. McHargue, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Zackmire cemetery. – S
