SOWERS, Ida Simmons

Mrs. Ida May Sowers, 83, died Wednesday night at the home of her bro-in-law, Claude Sowers, of Bloomingdale. She had been bedfast 6 months. Born 9-19-1876 in Fountain County, she was a daughter of David & Sarah Sowers Simmons. She was married to Harrison Alvis Sowers who preceded her in death in Oct 31, 1955. Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Marinda Kiger in the Britton Nursing Home near Rockville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday with burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Covington.

Source: Unknown newspaper - The obituary is from a collection of newspaper (paper names not recorded) obituaries saved, by Fauniel Hershberger, during the 1950's, 60's, 70's and 80's. She was a life long resident of Fountain County Indiana.  The collection is now housed at Crawfordsville District Public Library.

Funeral services were Saturday afternoon, March 5, at the Woodrow Funeal Home in Kingman for Mrs. Ida May Sowers, age 83, who died Wednesday night, March 2, at the home of a brother-in-law, Claude Sowers of Bloomingdale Rt. She had been bedfast six months. Born in Fountain County, she was a daughter of David and Sarah Sowers Simmons. She was married to Harrison Alvis (sic) Sowers who preceded her in death in 1955. Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Miranda Kiger in the Britton Nursing Home near Rockville and several nieces and nephews. The Rev. Eugene Rapson officiated and burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, southeast of here.
