SOWERS, Clell - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Clell Virgil Sowers, 87 of 311 E. 3rd, died at 6 this morning (Feb 10,1977) at the Americana Health Care Center in Champaign.  He had been a patient two weeks and in failing helath sev. years.  Mr. Sowers worked in occupational therapy at the Danville Veteran Administraion Hospital until his retirement 22 years ago. He also had worked several years in local coal mines. At one time, he had worked as an apprentice glass blower.  He received his schooling in Eugene, IN schools and at local schools. Mr. Sowers was a member of the United Mine Workers, the Veterans of Foreign War  Vets. He enjoyed woodworking and baseball.  Born November 29, 1889 in Yeddo he wa a son of Joseph and Allena Radcliff Sowers. He married Grace Leona Jones in Decatur. She died April 9, 1970. Survivors include a brother, Orville C. Lawrence of Detroit, MI ; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Edward (Suzanne Jane) Myers of Pittsbug PA and two nieces, Mrs. Jane Shanks of Danville and Mrs. Carmen Miller of Springfield. He was preeded. in death by two brothers and a sister.  Services will be t 10 a.m. Saturday at Pape Memorial Home.  Burial wiill be in Spring Hill Cemetery.  Visitation from  3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home,
